My year at Sight & Sound Conservatory
Coming Full Circle
And so concludes my year at Sight & Sound Conservatory. What an adventure it was. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Perspectives: Abby
I have just one last friend to introduce! Meet the lovely, grace-filled Abigail Sobanski. She is one of my dearest friends and a talented performer. She was kind enough to share some of the things she's learned throughout this year. Please enjoy her perspective!
Stage Combat
A good stage combat scene adds another layer of interest and excitement to a story. But it's not easy and takes a lot of focus to do it well and safely. I've gained a many new skills through this class that I know will be useful in the future. And had tons of fun in the process!
Playing Shakespeare
No fear Shakespeare! With our fantastic instructor, Ray Hilton, leading the way, we've all come to appreciate this very specific and challenging style of performance.
Perspectives: Amanda
Getting to know Amanda this year really has been an absolute joy. She inspires me with her work ethic, her intentionality, her maturity, and her amazing talent. I hope you enjoy reading about her perspective!
Opening Night: Take Two!
Miracle of Christmas is open to the public! And we got it up and running in record time. It was quite a process, and it's a privilege to be apart of this classic Sight & Sound production!
Perspectives: Aaron
Meet the talented Aaron Pottenger! He has a great story about hard work, trusting God, and dreams coming true. Enjoy his perspective!
Quite a Weekend
Lots has been happening lately at the Conservatory. We've had opportunities to grow in our craft and also enjoy theatre from an audience perspective again. It doesn't get more exciting than a trip to NYC!
Workin’ Together
Projects are just a lot more fun when you're working alongside awesome people. Over the past few weeks we've had the chance to do just that!
Perspectives: Wes
Meet Wes! There are some performers are talented at more than their onstage appearances. They're also amazing at making people feel cared for and valued. That's the kind of person that Wes is. And that's why I'm really excited to introduce him. I hope you enjoy his perspective!
How Was Your Break?
We don't get many breaks in the Conservatory, but we did have a nice long one a couple of weeks ago. Going home, spending time with family, resting...I can speak for us all when I say that we thoroughly enjoyed some time off. And, for me, something pretty exciting happened that made my break extra special!
Perspectives: Gabbi
We've all learned so many new things at the Conservatory, and my friend Gabbi wrote in to share what those have been for her. I hope you enjoy reading from her perspective!
Bringing the Bible to Life
Our education at the Conservatory goes beyond theatrical performance. We're learning that all of our gifts and talents can be used to give creative life to God's Word!
Making Theatre History
We've been doing a lot of reading lately! There's so much amazing material that has been written throughout the history of our craft. One of my favorite parts of the Conservatory is that we get special time to study the scripts and playwrights who have helped to make theatre what it is today.
Perspectives: JT
I have another friend to introduce! JT wrote in to tell his story and about some of his favorite classes this semester. Please enjoy his perspective!
A Day In The Life
A sample of what a day looks like as a Conservatory student. Lots to do, lots to learn, and lots of opportunities to grow!
Perspectives: Emma
I love hearing about the different things my fellow students are learning at The Conservatory. Please enjoy Emma's perspective!
The Halfway Mark
Midterms, Finals, and a strange realization that we're already halfway through our year. Wrapping up our first semester meant that some great projects were due this week!
