My year at Sight & Sound Conservatory
Characters, Quirks, and Picnics
Fully taking on a character isn't an easy process. It requires a lot of detailed work and intentional choices. It's what sets great performers apart, and it's something that each of us dreams of being able to do.
Living In The Moment
We tend to learn the most from the things that we think are the most frightening. Looking back to the first day of Improvisation class, I had absolutely no idea how far I would come. Or how much fun I would have! It's all about learning to live in the moment.
Perspectives: Hannah
God's plan is more wonderful than anything we could ever dream up for ourselves, and He does not forget His promises. Hannah has a beautiful story that reflects these truths. In this post, get a glimpse of our year through her perspective!
The “Why” Behind the “What”
Even at a place like Sight & Sound it's all too easy to forget why we're doing what we're doing. That's why reminders are so important, and we had a fantastic one last week.
Thank You For the Music
Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do! We've been singing lots of solfeggio lately, and some pretty exciting things have happened because of it.
Perspectives: Nick
Being a swing is no easy task, but my fellow students have arisen to the challenge magnificently. Nick is no exception. Please enjoy reading about an awesome experience he had from his perspective!
Of Shadows, Spectacles, and Storytellers
Whether a show is a breathtaking spectacle or an intimate conversation, it takes a lot more people than you'd think to bring it to life!
When Your Homework Is Fun
When you're studying what you love, homework assignments don't seem tedious. In fact, they're quite the opposite.
What’s Your Objective?
We're learning that great acting hinges on the answer to one critical question.
Perspectives: Blair
I'm so excited to introduce you to another one of my Conservatory friends. Please enjoy reading about this experience from the perspective of my lovely friend Blair!
Finding a Rhythm
We're settling into a regular schedule here at the Conservatory and it's taking some adjustment time. But with such a great show and so many wonderful classes, there's no other rhythm I'd rather find!
Opening Night
Excitement fills the air on the opening night of a show. The premier of Jonah was no exception.
It’s the Little Things
Turns out the little things aren't so little after all. It's the small acts of kindness and consideration that, added together, make an enormous difference. Those are the sorts of things that make working here so special.
Perspectives: Ellie
There's a lot of cool people here at Sight & Sound. I want them to share their own unique perspectives with you! So first up? My sweet friend Ellie!
New Elements
We're almost at the halfway point for rehearsals and we've been adding lots of fun new elements to the show.
School is in Session
For the Conservatory Class of 2017, school is in session! A year full of learning, growth, and exciting challenges awaits.
A New Thing
I know not what the future holds but I know Who holds the future. STAGE Productions has been a wonderful adventure thus far, and I am waiting with anticipation to see what New Things He has in store.
